Methven tapware is designed and manufactured to stand the test of time and the confidence we have in our products mean we are delighted to offer a comprehensive warranty.

Regular cleaning, replacing your filter and maintenance will extend the life of your tap.

Cleaning

Some cleaning products can cause corrosion and damage to metals and degradation of plastics so to protect your product and maintain the quality finish please follow these guidelines:

  • Regular cleaning of your product is recommended to avoid stubborn build-ups of dirt and limescale. Simply use a soft cloth and warm water.
  • Never use metal or abrasive scouring pads as these will scratch and damage the finish on your product. Never use cleaners that contain a scouring additive such as creme cleaners that contain silica.
  • Do not use aggresive or highly acidic cleaners, these include products containing, sodium hypochlorite (chlorine bleach), formic acid, hydrochloric acid, hydrogen peroxide or ammonia. The use of harsh or abrasive cleaners will void the product warranty.
Filter Replacement

We recommend you replace the filter every six months to ensure that you receive the purest quality water and protect the life of the tap and tank.

Your warranty can become in-valid if you do not replace your old filter regularly.

It takes less than a couple of minutes to replace your filter.

Maintenance and Dealing with Limescale

The Alexandria Instant Hot Water tap does not require preventive maintenance. However, if you live in an area with hard water, the system will require some attention during its lifetime.

In areas with hard water, you will become aware of limescale build-up when the flow of boiling water starts to slow down. Every tap is therefore fitted with a removable spout nozzle and aerator. When you notice that the flow of boiling water slows down, remove the nozzle and soak the aerator in cleaning vinegar for about one hour. Then rinse off the limescale and screw the nozzle with the aerator inside, back onto the tap. This should increase the water flow. If you would like step by step instructions of this process, click HERE.

If your instant hot water tap still doesn’t provide an optimal flow of boiling water, limescale may have built up in the tank. This means that your tank may need to be cleaned. If this is the case, please contact our Customer Care team on 0800 195 160, they will be able to send you out a tank descale kit, or in extreme cases, arrange for an engineer to visit. Error Codes

The LCD display on the instant hot water tank displays the set and current temperature. However, when there is a fault, it can display an error code. These can help you to identify the issue and the correct way to fix the fault.

E3 - indicates water shortage protection. When the water level in the inner tank is below the minimum required level.

Solution: Ensure all isolator valves are fully open and there are no kinks or tight bends in the pipework. Run at least 2 litres of water through the tank.

If the above does not work and the unit continues to show E3, is could be a dry burn switch problem and you will need to contact our Customer Care team on 0800 195 1602.

E7 - indicates a loose electronic connection in the system.

Solution: Ensure the power cable from the plug has not come loose. Ensure that the data cable from the tap is connected and secure.

If the above does not work and the unit continues to show E7, you will need to contact our Customer Care team on 0800 195 1602.

E8 - Indicates the tank is overboiling possibly due to scale build-up.

Solution: Draw off at least 2 litres of water to reduce the temperature in the tank. Adjust the water temperature on the LCD display to a lower setting. Check the aerator for scale build-up (see Maintenance section). You may also need to descale the tank.

E9 - Indicates the water temperature is too low (below zero).

Solution: You will need to increase the ambient temperature in the kitchen. This will help to defrost the water in the pipes and ensure a consistent flow through the tank.
